We deliver reliable, scalable technology and solutions that allow mobile network operators to rapidly deploy next-generation IP-based network and data services. Our products and solutions solve complex problems using very innovative component based technology including internet protocols and SMS and MMS messaging.

Overall purpose and intent of the job is to serve as 724’s senior technical representative for project delivery and to serve as our customer’s primary technical consultant in the use of 724 products and mobile data solutions. More specifically, a 724 Solution Architect is expect to:

  • Identify and clarify all project technical requirements that will serve as the basis for an overall solution architecture and design.
  • Perform the lead technical role during project implementation.
  • Work with 724 Product Management to insure accurate product positioning and to understand product strategies and plans.
  • Work within 724 Product Development to insure optimal and appropriate use of current products.
  • Work with other parts of 724 to meet our customers’ objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with all customer project stakeholders, particularly the customer’s senior technical personnel, throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills and Responsibilities

  • Develop solution architectures and designs in conjunction with our customer, software partners and systems integrators, that successfully meet our Customer’s requirements.
  • Develop and refine estimates to define the time, cost and quality constraints of the project and then lead the technical implementation team to ensure the technical integrity of the solution within these constraints.
  • Coordinate technical tasks with partners, customers, internal and external development and delivery teams.
  • Ensure that end to end functionality of the software developed is within the scope of the business need.
  • Identify and assess problems and develop workable solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between 724’s Professional Services Delivery, Development and Product management teams for product enhancements.
  • Coach and mentor developers, testers, and other technical resources and project personnel.
  • Ability to transfer abstract, vague, or complex business and project requirements into achievable technical solutions.
  • Expertise in multi-tiered, relational database architectures with UNIX, Linux, Oracle and MySQLas the primary software environments.
  • Verbal and written communications with senior management, internal and external project managers, customers and development teams.
  • Solutions in customer management and billing for the wireless software industry are an asset.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required in this position

The ideal person for this position is a senior technical professional with a background in mobile network operators, network and system administration, and a broad knowledge of network components such as load balancers, gigabit switches, operating systems, and databases. This individual should have an ability to engage a Customer in discussions related to solution architectures and an ability to take a conceptual understanding of future requirements and translate them into technical requirements, and an ability to communicate them effectively to others within 724.

System Level Experience

  • Experience in Mobile Data Services (SMS, MMS, WAP)
  • Strong background in systems administration in a Unix/Linux environment
  • Strong background in network administration and communication protocols (TCIP/IP, DNS and Routing, load balancers, gigabit switches, etc.)
  • Distributed server-based application integration (Corba, J2EE)
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (Oracle 9i/10g and/or MySQL)
  • Component-based technologies

Other important skills and job requirements

  • Experience working on large project within large corporations
  • Team leadership experience
  • An ability to travel internationally is a requirement. The extent of travel is driven by many different factors; customer location, customer preference for on or offsite development, which product is being implemented, and phase of the project.
